Chairman's Message
Boxted Cricket Club
2009 Season
Chairman’s forward.
Dear Reader,
Firstly I would like to welcome you to our ‘friendly’ village cricket club, and hope that you will enjoy our company and be made to feel at home - whether it be as a player or a supporter.
For the elected officers and committee associated with the club it feels that no sooner did last season finish, than this new one has begun. During the winter a great deal of work was carried out to ensure that we continue with the progress made in attracting junior cricket within the club. To this end we will again be running Kwik Cricket training sessions Saturday mornings from May through to September, and looking to host our own tournament in June – all to be benefited by the use of the new artificial wicket that is to be laid in May at a cost of several thousands of pounds.
Not forgetting the existing and potential new members of the club for whom from January through to April, we ran ‘Net Practice’ sessions at Littlegarth School under the guidance and tutorage of Gareth Fisher our qualified coach. These sessions proved very beneficial in that we found new players and friends and not to mention shaking off the cobwebs and slicing off the pounds from our increased waistlines. I think I can also safely say that for those who regularly attended these sessions they will start the season fitter and in better nick than has been the case in past years.
You will see from the opposite page under the heading Club Development Plan that the Management Committee has embarked on an ambitious but practical journey that will ensure the future success of our club. The above developments are only the first stage and you can expect to see more improvements as time goes on. The committee will be working very hard in the background to ensure we achieve our objectives and to give those playing for Boxted Cricket Club a better and first class playing experience.
In conclusion I would like to wish you all the very best for the season, and thank you for all the support hard work I know that you will give. Together we can make 2009 a successful season both on and off the field of play.
Kindest regards,
Paul Harris
